Bubblegum. The Biggest Bubbles Ever Blown.

Bubble Gum’s Biggest Bubbles Ever Blown. That’s why bubble gum was invented. That’s what bubblegum is all about. What’s what bubblegumheaven.com is all about.

You put on the world’s greatest bubble gum bubble blowing contest like The BUBBLEGUM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP and that’s exactly what you’re going to get. The biggest bubbles ever blown. And the BWC hasn’t disappointed.

What you see here are the biggest bubbles ever blown in non Guinness World Record contests. While it’s true that we don’t have a record of or haven’t seen every other bubble blowing contest ever held (because, after all, bubble blowing contests go all the way back to the beginning of bubblegum time, with contests being held at Walter Diemer’s house), we do have the recollections of the BOMB Squad Heroes and there is visual evidence and written record of the results of a number of the biggest bubblegum contests ever held.

In our claim that the biggest bubbles of all time have been blown in the BWC we mention about “barring evidence to the contrary.” What we mean is that we hold out the possibility that someone could claim bigger bubbles from another contest. Should anyone ever come across such evidence, we would like to see it, and better still, we would love to see it entered into the BUBBLEGUM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, so that it and it’s blower could both be given the recognition the bubble and the person who blew it richly deserves.

We also mention that these are bubbles from non-Guinness World Record events. The reason for that is while Guinness World Record bubbles are certainly big enough to make this list, BOMB Squad Heroes are not eligible to compete in the BUBBLEGUM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, which means their record breaking bubbles, or any other bubbles they blow cannot be part of the list. And while it’s possible that other bubbles from Guinness events may qualify, it’s not known if there have been any others big enough to get on the list.

So, if anyone knows of bubbles from any contests that could make this list, we encourage those to be brought forward. And if anyone has pictures of themselves blowing bubbles that could qualify, please bring them forward and enter the BWC. Get some recognition. Get a world ranking. Get some free publicity on the homepage of Bubblegum Heaven. Write your name in the history book. Have some fun!

What follows is the Top 65 Biggest Bubbles Ever in non-GWR contests as of 12/31/2011. To see a single picture of this list on that date, please go to our old homepage.

If your not on this list, hope to see you there someday! Meanwhile, please feel free to comment on this list, we’d love to see what you think!

BOMB Blog 28: Does Bubble Gum Have Spider Eggs in it?

Lots of good things and bad things have been said about bubblegum over the last eighty two years of bubblegum history.

But one of the most bizarre came when kids started saying some bubblegum had spider eggs (or is it spider legs) in it.

Did these rumors lead to a lot of teachers and people who had to clean bubblegum off the bottom of desks and theater seats to jump on the spider egg bandwagon? I don’t know, but this certainly gave a lot of ammunition to anyone anti-bubblegum.

It was a shame though, as apparently over $100,000 was spent to battle such rumors.

Big Bubble Blower Looks To Compete Against Guinness Record Holder

It had simmered in his head for nearly a lifetime. The Guinness World Record for blowing the largest bubble.

He always thought he could do it. His experiences convinced him. His pictures should convince you. He can blow gigantic bubbles!

“The record had always been my dream, and it’s record holder was always etched on my mind” said Dr. Enaught T. Wiseham. “Susan Montgomery Williams and her now 23 inch bubble. I would buy the book every year just to see her picture in it. It’s an unbelievable record, one she has held 28 years, and one, judging by the worldwide love ofbubblegum, has to be one of Guinness’ most popular. Still I alwaysthought I could break it.”

There was just always that one aggravating little catch. Guinness’ “3-piece rule.”

“It always came down to that” said Wiseham. “An artificial limitation. See I believe in blowing bubbles way bigger than 23 inches. The difference? I can use over a hundred pieces of bubblegum, and Guinness only allows three to be eligible to break the record. Why does there
have to be that limitation?”

“I recently noticed that Ms. Williams has joined forces with another Guinness Record Holder for blowing bubbles, Joyce Samuels, who holds the record for blowing the largest bubble from her nose, 16 inches. They apparently want to promote their record abilities, and I think
that’s a good idea. Such a good idea, in fact, that I figured that’s what I should do. And perhaps show those record holders, and more importantly, the world, what big bubbles are really all about!”

“So I’m issuing this press release to announce the creation of BUBL, the Blowing Unbelievable Bubbles League. BUBL is going to be the greatest thing in bubblegum. If you care about big bubbles, be ready because BUBL is going to be the place to be!”

World Record Bubble Blower Introduces GUMpete-O-meter Bubble Measurer

Here’s the article that was released by the Chewsy Suzy GUMpany about the introduction of the bubble measuring GUMpete-O-meter.

The CHEWSY SUZY GUMpany recently announced the answer to the 27 year-old question “where can I get something that can measure my bubble?”

“It’s probably more like a 79 year old question that goes back to the birth of bubblegum,” explained “Chewsy Suzy,” Susan Mont”GUM”ery Williams, Guinness world record holder of the largest bubblegum bubble.

“I started asking the question myself when I invented the “Chewsy Suzy Cinch” and started blowing gigantic bubbles, and it continued right on when I broke the record with a 19 ¼ inch bubble in 1979, all the way through the other three times I rebroke the record which now stands at 23 inches. And I still get asked the question all the time.”

“I never had an answer because I never knew anyone who sold them. But when you’re the greatest bubble blower of all time and you become of aware of bubblegum problems, you want to create solutions. That’s why my company has developed the Chewsy Suzy GUMpete-O-meter, to measure both giant and world record size bubblegum bubbles.”

“The name GUMpete-O-meter is taken from my slogan “27 years and still looking for some GUMpetition,” a slogan that has to be renewed yearly. I’ve held the record that long and even though many have tried, no one has challenged me in all that time. There are millions of kids out there who would love to have my record, and to them I say go for it! But the fact is, if you can’t measure the size of your bubbles, that simply makes the task all the more difficult if not impossible.”

“I created the GUMpete-O-meter with Chewsy Suzy-brand optimism. My official world record is 23 inches but I have blown much larger bubbles than that. There’s a world of potential in blowing gigantic bubbles, size-wise, fun-wise and business-wise. That’s why I’ve made them so they can measure a bubble up to 37 ½ inches. Like I say, I’m looking for some GUMpetition and to help provide big bubblegum fun, and that’s exactly what the GUMpete-O-meter helps to do. I’m also looking forward to big things in bubblegum’s future, and The GUMpete-O-meter can handle that.”

At last, the question is answered. Buy a GUMpete-O-meter from The Chewsy Suzy GUMpany, and find out just how big your bubbles really are.

About Susan Montgomery Williams and The CHEWSY SUZY GUMpany:

Chewsy Suzy, after inventing a new way of blowing a bubblegum bubble called “The Chewsy Suzy Cinch,” rocketed into bubblegum history books in 1979 by breaking the Guinness world record for largest bubble gum bubble with a 19 inch bubble. Her exploits have lead to several national TV appearances, including her fourth and most recent breaking of the record with a 23 inch bubble, for being arrested at a rock and roll concert for popping her bubblegum too loud, and blowing a bubble underwater on Japanese TV. The mission of her company, The CHEWSY SUZY GUMpany, is to create products and publicity designed to lead bubblegum back to it’s roots, it’s ability to create big bubbles and big fun.

BUBL Issues Challenge Results

What we have here was an article released by BUBL in 2008 talking about the results of their challenge to Chewsy Suzy:

The Blowing Unbelievable Bubbles League (BUBL) today issued the results of it’s recent challenge to Susan Montgomery Williams, the holder of the Guinness World Record for blowing the largest bubblegum bubble.

“What we asked her” said Earl “The Gum Bubble Coach” Hartwell, co-founder of BUBL, “was to comment on the issue that’s the entire reason why BUBL exists. That is, that it is not only possible to blow bigger bubbles than her 23 inch Guinness World record, but that it has been done before, possibly many times.”

“We know it can be done” said Dr. Enaught T. Wiseham, co-founder of BUBL and operator of Yahoo group Enaught’s Bubbles. “We know by personal experience. And we plan to show the world exactly what we are talking about. The sad thing here is that the results of our challenge are, well, there are no results. We haven’t gotten any reply.”

“And that’s too bad” said Coach Hartwell. “It would be great if Chewsy Suzy, the most famous bubblegum blower ever, would step forward for the good of bubblegum blowing, a sport she has practically singlehandedly created. I think it would probably be the greatest thing to ever happen to bubble gum. But BUBL can’t make her do it. If she won’t, we can only show the world proof of what we mean and let it judge for itself.”

“I believe we are making progress though.” Dr. Wiseham added. “We’ve noticed from a press release that her and Joyce Samuels (the Guinness World Record Holder for blowing the largest bubble from the nose) have added a spokesman and advisor, a Bobby “Boom Boom” Bickerson. I can only speculate if this was a move to somehow counter what BUBL has been doing, but the timing is curious. Maybe it could be that we have them worried. Regardless, we are still waiting for the response we haven’t gotten. If Bickerson’s the spokesman, I’d love to hear what he has to say!”

From the sound of their comments, BUBL may just be ready to explode.

Guinness World Record Bubble Blowers Join Forces

Here was an article from 2007 announcing the teaming up of Susan Montgomery Williams and Joyce Samuels to promote big bubblegum bubbles:

“As the two greatest bubble blowers of all times, we understand what bubblegum is really all about” explained Williams, Guinness world record holder for blowing the largest bubblegum bubble. “Big bubbles and big fun. That is what the product’s creator intended. That is the reason bubblegum has survived and thrived when so many other candies have come and gone. That is what made the product what it is today, loved by kids worldwide. That is why the product will probably live forever, and last but not least, that is why I believe its the worlds greatest food.”

“Suzy and I are getting together because neither of us believe manufacturers are really doing right by the product” said Samuels, Guinness world record holder for blowing the largest bubblegum bubble from her nose. “Bubblegum can do what no other candy can do, blow giant bubbles and create even bigger fun. That’s what should be driven home, but we both feel like we see all too much emphasis on taste. If you want something that tastes good, have a candy bar. But if you want fun, bubblegums the one!”

“The purpose of our coming together is to create the future of bubblegum by using a simple idea,” said Williams. “That is, to take it back to it’s roots. According to stories, the man who invented bubblegum would train his salesmen how to blow bubbles, and he was always having bubble blowing contests for kids. As a result, bubblegum has become the world’s greatest food. He really had it right. So right, in fact, that a Wikipedia page on bubblegum says that he was portrayed by Smithsonian as the undisputed hero of children across the world. As the two greatest users of his product, we feel it’s time to bring the product back to what he meant it to be.”

The bubble blowing duo speak from experience. “I was born to blow big bubbles,” Williams explains. “My name even has “GUM” in it!” After inventing a new way to blow a bubble called “The Chewsy Suzy Cinch,” she broke the record for largest bubblegum bubble in 1979 with a 19 ¼ inch bubble and has broken it three times since, the most recent a 23 incher (the current record) which was seen on the Regis and Kathy Lee Show, one of several national television appearances she has made. Her slogan is “27 years and still looking for some GUMpetition!”

Samuels didn’t just break a record, she created a record that never previously existed, blowing bubbles from the nose. She first created the record with an 11 inch bubble and later broke that record on a Ripley’s Believe It Or Not episode with a 16 incher and has held the record ever since. The two first appeared together on MTV’s “Call To Greatness,” filmed at world famous Bubblegum Alley.

“Our coming together is one of bubble gum’s greatest moments, and one of the most exciting I’ve experienced,” Samuels said.

BOMB Blast 3: Frank Fleer is Born.

1860. 11 years after the Gold Rush, 12 years after the first commercial chewing gum and 9 years before the first chewing gum patent and 1 year before the country plunged into the Civil War was born Frank Henry Fleer, bubblegum’s biggest visionary, a man who, had he never existed, bubblegum today may never have existed and perhaps chewing gum as we know it may never have existed.

BOMB Blast 2: Otto Holstein Opens an Extracts Company in Philadelphia.

Shortly after the first chewing gum and in the same year as the Gold Rush, in a wholly unrelated event, a German Quaker by the name of Otto Holstein opened an extracts company.

Little did he realize at the time that he was setting the groundwork for a product that would one day become one of the most incredible business stories to ever happen.

BOMB Blast 1: Commercial Chewing Gum is Born.

In 1848, shortly before the Gold Rush, came what could be called the “GUM Rush,” the first commercial chewing gum, started on the other side of the country, in Maine.

While the idea of chewing things which seemed to perhaps be like chewing gum had been around for a long time, this was apparently the first time people had began to try to make money off it, and once something like that happens and is successful it will gain attention.

As this is written 163 years later, gum is everywhere, including about 169,000,000 results when you do a Google search for the word gum. Yes. It definitely got attention!
